Enterprise Digital Rights Management (EDRM) technology, a core solution of Fasoo’s Data Security Platform, is gaining widespread attention as enterprises strive to protect their sensitive data in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Gartner reports states, “twenty-nine technologies featured on the Hype Cycle for Cloud Security*. In this group, the mechanisms associated with control over identity and data protection (Enterprise Digital Rights Management) and tools that reliably reduce misconfiguration of cloud-based applications are currently of the highest interest to security and risk management (SRM) leaders.” Gartner goes on to project that “through 2025, more than 99% of cloud breaches will have a root cause of preventable misconfigurations or mistakes by end-users.”
“Interest in EDRM continues to accelerate in 2022 as organizations seek solutions to persistently enforce user access and data protection policies across cloud environments,” said Herring. “Cloud environments have their own settings, policies and interconnected services that create complexities, often overriding or improperly implementing enterprise mandated policies.”
EDRM combines identity access, file encryption, and in-use document controls to persistently secure sensitive data across repositories, cloud, endpoints, and at supply chain partners. Its zero-trust approach requires a user to be verified each time a document is accessed, while persistent encryption proactively denies any form of unauthorized disclosure.
“Cloud migration, work from home, the growth in collaboration applications, and insider threat risk are all drivers in the resurgence of EDRM uptake,” Herring said. “Enterprises look to fortify their existing data loss prevention and user analytics solutions by integrating EDRM into their data security infrastructure.”
Fasoo pioneered EDRM technology over 20 years ago, and today it’s an integral part of Fasoo’s Data Security Platform. Serving over 2,000 customers and millions of users, enterprises achieve life-cycle control over their sensitive unstructured data spanning discovery, classification, advanced protection, and comprehensive traceability for compliance requirements.
