What is External Authorization Management (EAM)?

External authorization management (EAM) is a system or framework that manages and enforces access control policies by relying on external authorization services rather than internal systems. In this context, when a user or application attempts to access a resource, the decision to grant or deny access is made by an external authorization service, which evaluates the request based on predefined policies and rules. EAM allows organizations to centralize and standardize access control across multiple applications and systems, making it easier to manage permissions, ensure compliance, and adapt to changing security requirements. By decoupling the authorization process from individual systems, EAM provides greater flexibility and scalability in managing who can access sensitive resources and under what conditions.
