Lock Your Computer So I Don’t Steal Your Data

How many times have you left your laptop open and walked away for just a minute?  We all do it.  If you’re at home or in a locked office, it’s no big deal.  If your in a coffee shop or the cafeteria at work, it’s an invitation for someone to steal documents, email and data.

Lock your computer before you walk away.  Use Windows Key – L to lock a Windows computer.

It’s a little more complicated for a Mac.  The easiest is to enable a lock in your menu bar through Keychain Access.  Go into Utilities, and launch Keychain Access.  Open Preferences and check “Show Status in Menu Bar”.  Click the lock icon and select “Lock Screen”.

Or you can use the method in this short video.  However you do it, lock your computer.
