The Norton “Hack is Wack” Cybercrime Rap Contest is asking Snoop fans, rap enthusiasts and anyone with a bit of creativity to create a two-minute rap video on cybercrime. The contest runs through September 30, 2010 and asks you to create and upload your video to www.HackIsWack.com or facebook.com/Norton. You can rap about hacking, identity theft, computer viruses, and why it’s important to protect yourself from online crime. Snoop has been a victim of cybercrime and is passionate about fighting it. Make sure you use the hashtag #SnoopNorton if you share this on Twitter.
A panel of Norton representatives and Snoop’s management will judge videos based on originality, creativity and how well they convey the anti-cybercrime message. The grand prize is two tickets to a Snoop concert, including airfare and accommodations, and a Toshiba laptop. The website has a short page on some of the more common security problems today.
I think this is a great idea and gets people involved in an issue that causes a lot of problems for consumers and businesses. It’s not just about big corporations and governments. It’s about everyone.
So what are you waiting for? Unleash your rapping skills and help to take a bite out of cybercrime (with apologies to McGruff the Crime Dog).
